bloom | 10m, super 8, 2023
bloom is shot on the borders between American National Parks and Military testing sites in the South West. The short film documents a range of flora, fauna and animals as they traverse these arbitrary borders of hyper-protection and testing that have been initiated on indigenous land. Using mirrors in front of the Super8 lens, the camera simultaneously collages activity on both sides of the fences. The film was shot in the increasingly rare 1-in-80 year flower bloom that took place in the summer of 2023.
