group dynamics | 2 days, performance, 2018
group dynamics was a two day intensive workshop with the actors Gordon Peaston, Elena Saenz and Charles Sandford. The rehearsal time was supported by the Jerwood Arts 'Artist Bursary Award' in order to help me experiment with approaches to directing fiction.
Meeting all of the actors individually beforehand to discuss the backdrop of the narrative and designate them their roles, the actors met for the first time as their fictional personas, subsequently not breaking character for the whole time we spent together. We embarked on a two day durational improvisation from this starting point, on the first day in a rehearsal space and the second in my own home.
